The Australian Libraries Copyright Committee (ALCC) and Australian Digital Alliance (ADA) are seeking a full-time copyright adviser to contribute to copyright and access to information developments in Australia and overseas, and participate in a range of copyright advocacy efforts.
‘Get your collections out there: understanding the copyright framework around online collections’ follows on from last year’s ALCC training, which tackled the copyright basics. This year’s training aims to demystify copyright law for librarians looking to promote collections online, and help staff develop risk management guidelines for using copyright works.
After many years of leadership of the Australian Libraries Copyright Committee, Professor Tom Cochrane has announced his intention to retire as Chair. Tom has chaired the ALCC since its inception in 1994, and has been a steadfast and influential advocate for copyright reform to enable access to and use of information in Australian libraries and archives.
The ALCC’s annual free copyright training for members is heading to Brisbane and Townsville next month, with sessions scheduled in Brisbane on Wednesday 12 September and the following day in Townsville, Thursday 13 September. ALCC members include staff working in institutions who are members of ALIA, CAUL, NSLA or the Australian Society of Archivists.
